Homework[edit | edit source]
If you have Dr. Eldredge, you will be encouraged to do your homework in LaTeX. Especially for the first homework, which has many tables, it is extremely helpful to use LyX to edit your homework. It is able to directly import the tex files that Dr. Eldrege typically supplies. In LyX, you still use LaTeX for anything that would normally be in math mode, but it will autmatically render in-place as you type, making it easy to see what you're doing as you go. Additionally, LyX has a graphical menu if you end up needing to insert anything you don't know the command for. Anything that would not normally be in math mode (tables, lists, etc) is editable graphically through a word-like interface.
